| Here is the second of two successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the East Altoona Roundhouse in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Partially visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6945, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during November of 1926 and retired in February of 1956 after 30 years of faithful service. In this context, it's in line to receive after-run service in the Roundhouse. |
